Nissan Kicks Is The Most Fuel Efficient Non-Hybrid SUV On The Market!

Although still not as important as in some other parts of the world, fuel economy plays a big role in North America as well. Of course, we are talking about SUVs and crossover, as sedans are generally much more efficient, no matter the engine power and size. While hybrid and plug-in hybrid models dominate gasoline models in this aspect, many drivers still prefer classic design solutions.

Therefore, we did a little bit of research in order to find out which are the most efficient gasoline crossovers on the markets and most of the leaders are subcompact crossovers, which was pretty much expected. While there are many efficient models on the list, there can be only one at the throne and the title goes to Nissan Kicks, which features the highest mpg ratings among crossovers.

Nissan Kicks Fuel Economy and Specs

The Nissan Kicks features the highest mpg ratings among all crossovers in the class. Thanks to a small-displacement engine that is paired with a CVT gearbox, as well as to a small overall weight, the numbers are actually pretty impressive. With this crossover, you may count on about 31 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway. That would be around 33 mpg combined.

In terms of specs, the Kicks comes equipped with a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine, which is good for about 122 horsepower. With such numbers, you won’t get any spectacular performances. Still, 9.5 seconds to hit 60 isn’t that bad at all, at least until you hit the highway.

Most Efficient Crossovers

As we already mentioned, Nissan Kicks is the most fuel-efficient crossover on the market, but there are several more non-hybrid crossovers that offer amazing mpg ratings. Here is the list of the most fuel-efficient gasoline crossovers on the market:

       Model Name (city/highway/combined)

  1. Nissan Kicks (31/36/33)
  2. Lexus UX (29/37/32)
  3. Hyundai Venue (30/34/32)
  4. Buick Encore (30/32/31)

Nissan Rogue Features Pretty High MPG Ratings Too

Although it didn’t manage to enter this top 10 list, Rogue is also a pretty efficient crossover. With this crossover, you may count on about 26 mpg in the city, 33 on the highway and 29 mpg combined. This is pretty amazing ratings for a compact crossover. As you can see on the list, there are just three compact crossovers that are more efficient (RAV4, CR-V and Escape). Rogue shares fourth place with Subaru Forester, which also features around 26 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway. However, the Forester comes standard with all-wheel-drive, so it’s mpg ratings actually look pretty impressive.
