2022 Nissan Versa Preview, Specs, Features, Colors

When you’re tight on a budget, you definitely want the best value for your money. In practice, this means a lot of compromises and Versa is not an exception in this aspect. Depending on your preferences, this small can be a pretty amazing value. If your main concern is the amount of space and quality ride, this sedan stands way better compared to similarly priced cars. On the other side, Nissan engineers intentionally sacrificed performance and the overall refinement. We expect the 2022 Nissan Versa to continue in the same way.

This means that you may count on the same layout, which is all about being affordable. This is one of the cheapest new cars you can buy in North America but also a car that offer a decent amount of passenger space, solid cargo volume and decent ride quality. Moreover, the interior quality seems pretty impressive, given the asked price. All in all, this small sedan definitely has something to attract a wide range of buyers.

2022 Nissan Versa Redesign

The current generation of this small car has been around for a couple of years. Therefore, we don’t expect that the 2022 Nissan Versa will change too much. The overall design will definitely remain the same, which means you may count on a vehicle that rather relies on proven-technology. It shares most of its parts with the current-generation Micra and also the previous generation of Renault Clio. Despite the simplistic approach, it features a well-balanced suspension setup, which makes it quite pleasurable to drive, especially if you prefer comfort over sportiness.

Visuall, the current model looks modern and follows the brand’s contemporary design language pretty much entirely. All the ingredients of Nissan’s V-Motion grille are there, so we don’t expect any modifications in the near future. Still, we won’t exclude the possibility to see something like a new color option or even a visual package.

Interior

The cabin design is what impresses most about this car. To be straight, it’s not spectacular. However, it looks way better than you would expect from a vehicle at this price range. The overall layout is nice and appealing, while the build quality is decent as well. When it comes to materials, it’s mostly about plastics, but plastics that look nice and even emulates some finer materials in certain areas.

Nissan Versa Interior

Despite that the Versa features just a little bit over 103 inches in wheelbase, it offers plenty of legroom. Both rows are pretty generous in this aspect and accommodate adults pretty well. Still, taller passengers may have some struggles with the headroom in the second row.

When it comes to the cargo area, you may count on about 15 cubic feet. That’s pretty good for the class. Moreover, this is even more room compared to the bigger sibling, Sentra.

Features

Yearly updates usually bring novelties in terms of standard equipment and we expect that the 2022 Nissan Versa won’t be any different. Still, we don’t expect things to be much different compared to the current model, which already features a decent list of standard equipment. All versions come standard with goodies like a push-button start, a 7-inch touch screen, a four-speaker stereo, Bluetooth, and a USB port. Additionally, you can get things like keyless entry, automatic climate control, remote start, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, satellite radio, upgraded audio system etc.

In terms of safety, the current model comes standard with a rearview camera, forward collision warning, forward and reverse automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, and lane departure warning. That’s a pretty impressive list for a small car like this, which can further be expanded with things like blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a driver attention monitor, adaptive cruise control, and a rear-seat reminder.

2022 Nissan Versa Engine

This is where Versa shows its simplicity. It comes with a good-old 1.6-liter four-cylinder unit, which puts out around 122 horsepower and just 114 pound-feet of torque. As you may presume, it’s not particularly fast. Still, we can say it gets the job done, especially if you don’t go on the open road too often. Base models come with a 5-speed manual gearbox, but CVT is the main choice in most cases. It works well and it’s particularly beneficial in terms of fuel economy.
Speaking of fuel economy, models with CVT can return up to 32 mpg in the city and 40 mpg on the highway, which is pretty good for the segment. Obviously, models with the manual are notably thirstier.

2022 Nissan Versa Release Date and Price

Since we don’t expect to see bigger changes for the next year, the launch date should be scheduled for the last quarter of 2021. The price won’t increase too much either, so base versions should remain under 15.000 dollars, which makes this sedan one of the cheapest new cars in North America.
