In the world of compact crossovers, the Rogue always had a special place. It has never been considered a class leader but the sales numbers were always pretty impressive. Therefore, the recently-introduced new generation continued with a familiar approach. Some may see it as a mediocre vehicle because of its performance, but Nissan once again made a crossover that is generally a very good car, which has a lot of things to offer, starting from a long list of features, hi-quality interior, plenty of passenger and cargo space.
However, the new model lacks solid driving dynamics and that’s what some expect to change. The base engine is okay for non-ambitious drivers, but we would definitely like to see it in the future, maybe already in the 2022 Nissan Rogue. The rest of the vehicle will remain the same, which is normal, considering that we are talking about the second production year. We expect to see it sometime in the last quarter of 2021.
2022 Nissan Rogue Redesign
In terms of the overall design, the 2022 Nissan Rogue definitely won’t bring changes. We are talking about a very fresh model, which debuted recently and which has brought a lot of interesting novelties. Therefore, the next-year model will be a typical carryover. It will continue with the same design, which is based on the updated CMF platform and the styling that some call revolutionary, while others think it’s much more than that.
In any case, the new styling looks good and we have no doubt it will remain to look good in the following years, just like it was the case with the previous generation. For comparison, the new model looks bolder, features a more massive grille, sportier bumpers and new Patrol/Armada-inspired LED headlights. The overall shape, though, is pretty similar, despite that the new model features slightly bigger dimensions.
Interior
The inside is where we think the biggest changes came with the recent redesign. The new generation looks way better, though we have to say that the previous model looked good too. Still, the new one features more attractive aesthetics and utilizes some pretty fine materials. The overall build quality is really good. Of course, the dashboard is highlighted by a nice tablet-like touchscreen, which works in symbiosis with several physical buttons, while there is also an optional digital instrument cluster.
The Rogue has always been generous with space and the 2022 Nissan Rogue will carry on in the same way. You may count on two spacious and comfortable rows of seats, as well as on pretty good visibility in all directions. The cargo area also offers some pretty impressive numbers. You may count on more than 31 cubic feet behind the second row, while the total cargo volume goes up 74.1 cubic feet. Those are some of the highest ratings in the class.
Features
Novelties in this aspect are always possible and some of them will certainly come for the 2022 Nissan Rogue. However, most of the things are about to remain the same as in the current model. For reference, the current model comes standard with tech goodies like an 8-inch touch screen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a four-speaker stereo, two USB ports, Bluetooth, and satellite radio. In higher trim levels, you can also get things like dual-zone automatic and tri-zone automatic climate control, proximity keyless entry, remote start, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a universal garage door opener, panoramic sunroof, a 9-inch touch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay, a six-speaker stereo, a 10-speaker Bose premium stereo, navigation, wireless device charging, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, two rear USB ports, and a Wi-Fi hot spot.
2022 Nissan Rogue Engine
The current model is available with just one engine option. It is a familiar 2.5-liter four-cylinder, which puts out 181 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque. The engine by itself is okay, while the potential dealbreaker is actually a CVT gearbox, which may be highly beneficial in terms of fuel economy, but definitely kills the driving experience. It is particularly loud when you’re hard on the gas pedal. Speaking of the fuel economy, you may count on about 27 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway, which puts this compact crossover among class leaders.
Some sources suggest we might see novelties for the next year in this aspect. Allegedly, the company prepares a plug-in hybrid powertrain. At this point, this is just a rumor, so take it with a big reserve. More details should come soon.
2022 Nissan Rogue Release Date and Price
Considering that the 2022 Nissan Rogue probably won’t feature any particular change, we expect to see it sometime late in the year. Also, we don’t expect bigger price changes compared to the current model, which starts at around 26.500 dollars.
