2022 Nissan Navara Preview: Specs, Changes, Australia, Engine

At the time when everybody talks about the new Frontier and its redesign after 15 years, the internationally-offered 2022 Nissan Navara stays a little bit under the radar. That makes perfect sense, especially if we consider that recent update, which has brought novelties in terms of the styling, powertrain and safety features. Still, a couple of updates for the next year are possible too.

Most of the things are about to remain the same in the 2022 Nissan Navara. You may count on a familiar design, which still has a lot of things to offer, despite that the competition is getting stronger. It is a capable pickup truck, which offers good ride quality, two solid diesel engine options, and a quite decent list of standard equipment.

2022 Nissan Navara Redesign

Design-wise, the 2022 Nissan Navara definitely won’t change. The recent update has brought completely new styling, at least at the front. There is a new, more prominent grille, along with new headlights that utilize fancy-looking C-shaped LED lamps, a new bumper, as well as new color options, wheels etc. The rest of the truck remained pretty much the same. The model still looks fresh enough to compete with class leaders like Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger etc.

We should also introduce the new Pro-4X package. It doesn’t bring additional off-road hardware as in the case of North American counterparts, but still offers a lot of new styling details that have a big impact on the overall appearance.

Interestingly, the European version remained untouched. Some believe that these novelties could come with the 2022 Nissan Navara. On the other side, most experts believe that the real reason could be the discontinuation of the European model. At this point, both are just rumors.

The recent update didn’t bring any particular change on the inside, so we presume that the 2022 Nissan Navara won’t be any different. You may count on a familiar cabin layout, which is rather functional than attractive. Most materials are hard to touch but also build to last. The dashboard is quite bland-looking, but we like the fact that the list of tech goodies is more than decent. Of course, there is a decent infotainment system, as well as a couple of very useful driver-assistance features. Among them, you can find Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, Intelligent Emergency Braking, and Intelligent Around View Monitor.

Naturally, the new model will be offered in familiar cab configurations, with either single or two rows of seats.-

2022 Nissan Navara Engines

On most markets, the 2022 Nissan Navara will carry on with two familiar diesel options. In both cases, you may count on a familiar 2.5-liter turbodiesel, which comes in two output variants. Base models are good for about 160 horsepower and 290 pound-feet of torque. You can also get a version with 190 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque. The latter offers a towing capacity of 3.5 tons, which is on par with class-leaders.

We should also mention, that Nissan has revised the steering rack, so handling feels more responsive now. Furthermore, the rear suspension has been revised as well and now offers more payload capacity, according to the manufacturer. However, Nissan didn’t come up with numbers. In some parts of the world, you can also get a good-old 2.5-liter gasoline engine, which puts around 150 horsepower. It’s not the most refined engine around, but its durability makes it perfect for tough conditions.

2022 Nissan Navara Release Date

We expect to see 2022 Nissan Navara sometime in the last quarter of the year. The pricing will be announced later. Of course, the competition remains the same, in form of models like Mitsubishi L200, Toyota Hilux, Isuzu D-Max etc.
