2022 Nissan Micra Preview: Specs, Interior, Price and Features

The current generation of Nissan’s supermini has been around since 2016 and it’s quite obvious that the next generation will be in the works soon. However, last year’s update clearly indicates that the current model will remain in production for some more time and that the 2022 Nissan Micra will come without more significant changes. Simply, the recent refresh has brought a lot of novelties, starting from a new styling, new trim levels, new engine, new features etc. We doubt that even minor updates like new color options could come next year.

Therefore, you may count on familiar design characteristics. With all the novelties that recently came, this small hatchback offers attractive styling, decent engine power and pretty engaging handling. The cargo area is also quite decent for the class. On the other side, we don’t like tight rear seats, while the interior quality could be better.

2022 Nissan Micra Redesign

Design-wise, we don’t expect that the 2022 Nissan Micra could come with any particular changes. As we already mentioned, the last year’s refresh has brought a lot of novelties. Among them, we can find visual updates as well. Of course, most of them are at the front, where we can find slightly revised fascia, new bumper and similar things. Naturally, the company also introduced things like new wheels and color options.

Mechanically, things are pretty much the same as in the initial model from 2016. This small city car rides on a familiar V platform, sharing most of its parts with the previous-generation Renault Clio, as well as the previous-generation Juke. Just like the French counterpart, this one also offers pretty engaging handling, which provides quite a sporty driving experience.

Interior

The same thing goes for the interior design. As we are talking about a model that is expected to remain in production for no more than a few more years, it’s quite easy to presume that the dashboard will remain untouched. That’s not a bad thing at all, considering that the current model already features a pretty attractive dash, which looks great, comes with nice materials and features good build quality. Add to this a nice-looking steering wheel and a decently-sized touchscreen and there is really nothing to complain about the front part of the cabin.

On the other side, things aren’t that impressive in the second row. With just 99.4 inches in wheelbase, it’s obvious that this hatchback can’t accommodate adult passengers in the second row, at least not comfortable enough. Still, the cargo area features a decent size for the class.

2022 Nissan Micra Engines

When it comes to powertrain, the recent facelift has brought some interesting novelties. A good-old 1.5-liter dCi turbodiesel isn’t available anymore. Instead, Nissan offered a new 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine, which is good for about 115 horsepower and offers reasonably good driving dynamics. Furthermore, the fuel economy is also pretty good.

On the other side, base models will continue with an incredibly slow naturally-aspirated 1.0-liter unit, which puts out just 71 horsepower. Given the obvious lack of power, it’s no wonder that it needs more than 16 seconds to hit 60 mph.

Both engines come in pairs with a manual transmission, which shifts smoothly.

2022 Nissan Micra Release Date and Price

Considering that there won’t be any particular novelties for the 2022 Nissan Micra, we presume it will arrive in a typical time of year. This probably means sometime in the last quarter of 2021, while the officials will say something more precise in the future. When it comes to the price, the UK model starts just under £13,900, which makes it one of the most affordable models in the class.
