In the world of small crossovers, you need to stand out somehow, because the competition is fierce. In the past, this model was famous for its funky styling but these days, there are several competitors that look even funkier. Therefore, the new generation of Juke, which has been around for a few years, comes as a more mature vehicle. It is more comfortable and better to drive, while it also offers better fuel economy. Normally, we wouldn’t expect bigger changes for the third production year, as that seems early for a mid-cycle refresh. However, rumors suggest something different.
At this point, we can hear rumors about the new engine option. At this point, Juke’s offer is limited to just one unit, a small three-cylinder turbo petrol. Therefore, these rumors make perfect sense, even though the current engine does a decent job. Other than the engine, we don’t expect that too many things could change.
2022 Nissan Juke Could Get New Engine
The current model looks great in many aspects but many would like to see more engine options in the offer. Currently, you can only get a small 1.0-liter turbo, which puts out around 117 horsepower. The engine by itself works well. It has enough power to move this crossover confidently, while the fuel economy is pretty impressive as well. Furthermore, you have a choice between manual and dual-clutch transmission, which both work great.
However, we would definitely like to see something more powerful in the offer. Some sources are speculating about the bigger 1.3-liter engine with around 130 horsepower. On the other side, we truly believe this crossover would be perfect for some form of electrification. Of course, we would expect to see the same e-tech hybrid that can be found in the new Clio, which combines a 1.6-liter gasoline engine with two electric motors. This system offers much more torque compared to a standard gasoline engine, as well as better fuel economy, better dynamics and eventually, lower CO2 emissions.
At this point, the officials are still quiet about this, so take these rumors with a reserve.
2022 Nissan Juke Redesign
Other than the possible addition of a new engine, we don’t believe that there could be more changes to the 2022 Nissan Juke. Simply, this model will represent the third production year of the current generation and we believe it is still early for a mid-cycle refresh. The new model looks good, we would say more mature than the previous generation. Still, it didn’t lose any of the original funkiness and that is still one of its strongest selling points.
Besides the styling, the new generation also comes with a significantly updated CMF platform. Compared to the previous generation, this model gains more than four inches in wheelbase, which brings various benefits. Also, this crossover rides better and offers a higher level of comfort.
Interior
Once again, no bigger changes are expected to happen for the 2022 Nissan Juke. The cabin will remain the same and that’s not a bad thing at all. Simply, the current interior already looks pretty impressive. Materials and overall build quality are great, especially for this segment of cars. Just like the Qashqai, this model also stands out with a fancy-looking cabin.
We also like the tablet-like infotainment system, which looks attractive and works better than before. Compared to the previous generation, the new infotainment is much easier to use, though we would say that most rivals still use better software than Nissan.
2022 Nissan Juke Release Date and Price
Despite the possible updates, we don’t expect that the 2022 Nissan Juke would come much earlier than usual. We expect to see it in the last quarter of the year and the price should also remain pretty much the same. The current model starts at around €20.000 in Europe and £18.600 in the UK.
