2022 Nissan Armada Preview: Interior, Features, Release Date, Platinum

The current generation of Nissan’s full-size SUV has been around for a while and after the recent update, we are pretty sure it will remain in production for a few more years. This is also a clear indicator that the 2022 Nissan Armada will come without more important changes. Simply, the recent refresh has brought all kinds of novelties, so there is no doubt that this SUV will remain competitive for some more time.

This means you may count on an SUV that is solid in most fields. It offers solid driving dynamics, along with very good handling. Furthermore, it benefits a lot from the fact that it is closely related to the Infiniti QX80, especially in terms of interior quality, which is surprisingly high. Also, the cabin is spacious and quite comfortable. Finally, there is the recent facelift, which made this SUV very appealing. Practically, the only major drawback would be fuel economy.

We expect to see the 2022 Nissan Armada late in the year.

2022 Nissan Armada Redesign

When it comes to base design characteristics, the 2022 Nissan Armada definitely won’t change. This SUV is pretty much a rebadged version of the international legend, Nissan Patrol. It offers great ride quality, both in terms of handling and comfort. Also, it is one of the rare models in the class that has been featuring a fully independent suspension for a while.

Visually, the recent update has brought significant improvements. Most of the novelties came at the front, where you can see new prominent headlights, along with a new grille, which both look futuristic and quite appealing. The rear end also included a couple of novelties, starting from the new bumper and taillights. All in all, it’s hard to believe that Nissan could bring any bigger changes for the next year. Still, there is always a chance to see things like a new color option etc.

Interior

The same thing goes for the interior design. We are about to see a familiar layout, which has been updated recently. The biggest novelties were in terms of tech features. We saw a new tablet-like 12.3-inch touchscreen, as well as a new 7-inch digital display on the instrument cluster. Other than that, things have remained the same, which isn’t a bad thing at all. The overall cabin layout is pretty much the same as in the premium sibling, QX80, which means fine materials, high overall build quality etc.

In terms of space, this SUV is definitely sufficient. You may count on three spacious rows of seats, which are all adult-friendly. Also, the cargo area is quite generous. You may count on about 16.5 cubic feet of space behind its third-row seats, 49.9 cubic feet with the third row folded, and 95.4 cubic feet with the second row down.

Features

Yearly updates can bring novelties in terms of standard and available equipment, but we are pretty sure that most things will remain the same in the Armada will carry on in the same way. This means that all models will come standard with goodies like push-button start, dual-zone climate control, 2.3-inch touch screen, navigation, a six-speaker stereo, satellite radio, wireless device charging, Bluetooth, USB ports, a Wi-Fi hot spot, Android Auto, and wireless Apple CarPlay. Additionally, you can get things like a moonroof, remote start, a 13-speaker Bose audio system and a rear-seat entertainment system.

When it comes to safety features, all models come standard with forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, forward and reverse automatic emergency braking, driver drowsiness monitoring, adaptive cruise control, vehicle exit warning, blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, rear cross traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, and a rearview camera. Additionally, you can get a surround-view parking camera system, traffic sign recognition, and a rearview mirror camera.

2022 Nissan Armada Engine

The 2022 Nissan Armada will continue with the recently updated version of the well-known 5.6-liter V8, which now features a max output of 400 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque. Driving dynamics are very good, while a familiar 7-speed automatic transmission shifts smoothly and usually on time.

As we already mentioned, the biggest drawback of this SUV is fuel economy, which is among the lowest in the segment. You may count on about 14 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway with standard models. AWD versions are even thirstier.

2022 Nissan Armada Release Date and Price

Considering that no bigger changes are expected to come for the next year, we presume that the 2022 Nissan Armada will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year. The starting price should go slightly under 50.000 dollars. When it comes to the competition, some of the key competitors are models like Chevy Tahoe, Ford Expedition, Toyota Sequoia etc.

Interesting that the release info for the new QX60 shows Nissan is dumping the CVT transmission. Will this be a trend going forward?

The vast majority of Nissan models will still have a CVT transmission.
