2021 Nissan Titan and Titan XD Diesel: Everything You Need to Know

The Titan may be a capable and reliable truck, but the competition is getting pretty tough these days, so it’s time for updates. Although some reports were suggesting a complete redesign, this will be just a facelift. The Japanese manufacturer is about to introduce a new styling, while the rest of the truck shouldn’t be changed drastically. We are about to see a familiar layout, but a completely new face, designed in a pretty futuristic manner, according to the latest reports. Also, there are several more changes to come. One of them is discontinuation of a diesel engine, while a single cab version won’t be in the offer anymore either. This update should make 2021 Nissan Titan more competitive in this super hot segment, full of excellent machines. The latest reports suggest the new version should hit the market already in early 2020.

2021 Nissan Titan Facelift

The upcoming update is about to bring a plethora of interesting changes. Of course, the most interesting are those in terms of styling. The testing model has been around for some time and it still wears a camouflage. Therefore, it is still hard to say how exactly the new model is going to look like. However, if we consider that the famous Patrol has been introduced with a new face recently, we may presume that the new 2021 Nissan Titan will go in the same direction.

2021 Nissan Patrol Redesign

That means a completely new face, with new headlights, grille, bumper etc. All these parts will be designed in a pretty futuristic manner, and the new Patrol headlights are definitely the most interesting piece of this update. The features a new shape now, with lots of LED lamps as well, something we haven’t seen from Nissan’s SUV and truck department so far.

On the other side, base design characteristics are about to remain the same, with one big exception. A single cab model won’t be in the offer. Just like Toyota did with Tundra a couple of years ago, Nissan will also focus on two-row versions.

Interior

A couple of novelties are expected on the inside as well. Judging on the spy photos, the new 2021 Nissan Titan will come with a new infotainment system. Despite that the current 7-inch touchscreen became standard feature recently, as well as smartphone goodies like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, the fact is that this software is quite complicated to use. With such awkward controls, we definitely can’t say it is the latest piece of technology. Therefore, the 2021 Nissan Titan is about to get a completely new touchscreen interface, more intuitive and with more functions.

Besides this change, we could also see novelties in terms of new color schemes, while some reports suggest a new instrument cluster as well. As we’ve already mentioned, the new model will drop a single cab layout.

2021 Nissan Titan Engines

One of the biggest changes for the next year will be the discontinuation of diesel options. The familiar engine from Cummins will be dropped, due to slow sales. This unit was exclusively available in the XD model. It is a 5.0-liter turbodiesel, which delivers around 310 horsepower and 555 pound-feet of power.

On the other side, the gasoline version will carry on in the same way. It is a well-known 5.6-liter V8, which delivers around 390 horsepower and 394 pound-feet of torque. It ensures great driving dynamics and solid performances. On the other side, we can’t say it is the most efficient unit on the market, as this truck returns around 15 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway.

Therefore, many reports suggest that the company could offer a more efficient, V6 engine option. At this point, we are still waiting to hear something from the officials on this matter.

2021 Nissan Titan XD

The more capable 2021 Nissan Titan XD will come with the same changes as standard models. Of course, we are about to see the same styling upgrades and interior novelties. Just like the base model, it won’t be available in a single cab layout anymore. Like we’ve already mentioned, diesel versions won’t be in the offer any more as well. The new model will come with a V8 gasoline engine only.

On the other side, we don’t expect bigger changes in terms of XD’s exclusive features. This model comes with an upgraded, heavy-duty suspension and a couple of more upgrades, which ensure better numbers in terms of payload and towing capacity.

Release Date and Price

We expect that the new models will arrive already early in the next year. When it comes to the price, keep in mind that the single cab model won’t be in the offer anymore. So, the starting price will be notably higher. Base models will go around 34.000 dollars.
