Rogue is the best-selling model in the Nissan’s US lineup. The compact crossover class is currently the most popular one and the speed of changes is faster than elsewhere. Well, Nissan didn’t update its model for a quite while. If they want to keep up with the competition, the carmaker will have to prepare the big 2021 Nissan Rogue redesign and draw the attention of buyers.
That is exactly what we expect from Nissan. There is a lot of rumors about the upcoming models in all segments and the new Ariya concept could be the platform that is going to underpin the new crossover. Lighter and more efficient model will have to be capable of getting the hybrid power, which could turn into all-electric drivetrain in the future.
Do not mix up the 2021 Nissan Rogue with Rogue Sport. The new vehicle is a different class and it is slightly larger than the subcompact Kicks. Well, it means the Rogue could grow a bit for the next generation.
2021 Nissan Rogue Specs (Petrol, Hybrid Engines)
Even after the redesign, the 2021 Nissan Rogue will stick to the old and reliable four-cylinder engine. The setup that includes a 2.5-liter unit and the CVT transmission is ready to crunch 170 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque. The vehicle is not returning stunning power numbers, but the fuel economy is at a high level. The conventional petrol drivetrain returns nearly 30 mpg combined. Front-wheel drive is standard, while the AWD consumes slightly more fuel. There are three modes available for drive – Sport, Normal, and Eco.
The upgrades on the new model include a better 2021 Nissan Rogue Hybrid. A 2.0-liter four-cylinder motor combines an electric battery for a similar power output like the conventional setup. On the other hand, the mileage gets a significant boost. With the front-wheel drive, the hybrid gets to 35 mpg combined and the AWD is doing 32 miles per gallon. Compared to its rivals, Toyota Rav4 and Honda CR-V are returning over 40 mpg. So, a tough task is ahead of engineers. Ariya concept will allow them installing a larger battery and even possibly the plug-in hybrid system.
2021 Nissan Rogue Redesign
The new model will bring some significant changes to the 2021 Nissan Rogue. The first spy photos are showing a heavily covered front fascia. So, a lot of updates are happening under the camo. Unfortunately, we don’t have details about the redesign. New grille, bumpers, headlights will present the new model.
According to what we saw, the carmaker will make the Rogue larger. Currently, the crossover is 183 inches long. However, the current platform dates back to 2014. Meanwhile, the Japanese company presented the Rogue Sport, which is about 10 inches shorter and positioned between Rogue and Kicks (169 in). Now, the new model will be closer to the mid-size SUV class and Murano (192 inches).
Interior, Trim Levels
The 2021 Nissan Rogue is going to be available at least three trim levels. We expect news about additional options and special editions. By then, you can count on the S as the base version and the SL and SV models as upper trims. These two will also be available with the hybrid engine. The standard package includes Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, which is a good start. Inside the cabin, we find cloth seats and manually-adjustable front buckets. A seven-inch touchscreen display is the center of the infotainment system.
If you want more features, then upgrade your Rogue to the SL or SV. Additions are automatic functions, such as climate control, brakes, or liftgate. More ProPilot features are available with the SV model. Also, larger wheels are there and navigation. Leather seats and Bose audio are the cherries atop of the cake.
The new editions we can see for the 2021 Nissan Rogue are the plug-in hybrid and the Platinum trim level. While the first one is still a rumor, the other version exists for some Nissan models. On the larger Pathfinder, it comes with a 13-speaker audio system, heated and ventilated front seats, dual-panel moonroof.
Expectations
The sales of the Rogue are jumping every year. Still, with over 400,000 sold units, the crossover is not the No1 in the US. Now, Toyota Rav4 and Honda CR-V are both offering hybrid units with superb mileage. The 2021 Nissan Rogue will have to respond to the challenge if the company wants to stay at the top of the class.
After the redesign, the price will jump a bit. Now, the S version will be closer to $26,000, SV over $27k, and SL breaches $32,000. Add about $1,500 for the all-wheel drive. The hybrid model is coming in the upper trims. The price will jump significantly, especially with big improvements in the power and the mileage. The 2021 Rogue will debut late in 2020.
