The current generation of this mid-size crossover has been around for more than five years and given the usual production cycle, a completely new version should arrive in the next year. According to most reports, the fourth generation will be ready by the end of the next year. We presume it will arrive as the 2021 Nissan Murano. Naturally, we expect to see a lot of novelties. While the current model still features one of the nicest cabins in the segment, it lags behind competitors in terms of driving dynamics and overall performances.
So, that would be the aspect in which we expect most improvements. Of course, there is always enough space for visual improvements, especially if we consider that the current model doesn’t follow the brand’s latest design language. As we already mentioned, the 2021 Nissan Murano is about to come next year, if we can rely on the latest reports.
2021 Nissan Murano Redesign
The 2021 Nissan Murano redesign will bring a lot of novelties. As we already mentioned, one of the biggest drawbacks of the current generation refers to the driving experience. Not only that most rivals offer better driving dynamics, but the handling isn’t on the satisfying level either. This is most notable in corners, where there is way too much body roll for a modern crossover. The obvious reason lays in the fact that the current model rides on the old D platform. The new model should switch to more up to date, CMF architecture, which will definitely provide better driveability, as well as better efficiency.
Styling
Like any other redesign, this one will also bring completely new aesthetics. The current model has been around since 2014 and we haven’t seen too many updates since then. Therefore, you may presume that the current model doesn’t follow the brand’s design language. Naturally, the 2021 Nissan Murano will. It will fit the brand’s latest version of the famous V-motion design language, which will bring a completely new face, with a lit of similarities with models like the recently redesigned Nissan Altima.
On the other side, the overall shape shouldn’t change too much. Once again, we are about to see a typical crossover body style, with a combination of curvy lines and sharp angles. In terms of size, we don’t expect significant changes. The new model may get a slightly longer wheelbase, but that shouldn’t affect the overall size too much.
Interior
Expectations in this aspect are pretty big. Simply, the current model still looks pretty amazing. It features one of the finest cabins in the class. The overall quality is impressive, particularly in terms of materials quality and final touches. Also, there is a fine amount of standard features, including the latest tech goodies.
The Murano is also pretty amazing in terms of interior space. Both rows offer plenty of legroom, while front seats are particularly massive and supportive. On the other side, cargo volume is slightly below-average.
We expect further improvements in all aspects. Of course, the first thing that comes to mind is a new dashboard layout, which would look even better and feature more tech features. Among them, we count on a new, bigger touchscreen, though we have to say that the current one already works and looks pretty good. The 2021 Nissan Murano will carry one with a two-row configuration and we expect a slightly bigger cargo area.
2021 Nissan Murano Engines
One of the biggest challenges for Nissan engineers will be to offer better driving dynamics and overall performances. Therefore, the current V6 will probably be replaced. Despite it delivers a decent amount of power and very good fuel economy, rivals feel sportier. The latest reports suggest that the new 2021 Nissan Murano could get a new 3.0-liter turbo V6, which delivers around 300 horsepower and has much more torque than the current, naturally-aspirated unit. Still, that could easily be an optional version engine, while the base model could come with Nissan’s new, quite efficient turbo-four engine. More details will be known in the future.
2021 Nissan Murano Release Date and Price
The new 2021 Nissan Murano still waits for the official confirmation. However, most reports claim the new generation will arrive in about a year. Most likely, we won’t see significant changes in price. The current model starts at around 31.500 dollars and we don’t expect bigger changes for the new model.
Competition
Despite that mid-size crossover usually come with three rows, two-row models are also very popular, so there is a wide range of models in the offer. Traditionally, Ford Edge is one of Murano’s biggest rivals, but there is also a new player in the game called Honda Passport. It is based on the three-row Pilot and particularly good in terms of off-road performances. Other rivals are Hyundai Santa Fe, Jeep Grand Cherokee etc.
