2021 Nissan 370Z Nismo Becomes 400Z

The 2021 Nissan 370Z Nismo is not in doubt. But, the latest information from the Japanese company is indicating interesting changes. The new model could become as 400Z Nismo. The prototype is unveiled and the vehicle is expected to return 475 hp.

According to rumors, that will be the new generation of the Z model. Still, the company is not confirming it yet, and the 370Z will have a final run in 2021. After that, we will see the premiere and all the specs of the 400Z Nismo.

The specs highlights of the 2021 Nissan 370Z Nismo are the max speed of 160 mph and 0-60 mph acceleration in 4.7-seconds. Unfortunately, the Roadster version is not offering the Nismo package. Touring and Sport Touring are available trims there. However, the Coupe model is also very attractive.

2021 Nissan 370Z Nismo Specs

It’s been 50 years since the Nissan is out in the sports car market. The anniversary edition looks cool, but it can’t match the offer of the 2021 Nissan 370Z Nismo. The segment that makes the difference lays under the bonnet. The Nismo edition comes with a specially-tuned 3.7-liter V6 engine that is capable to produce 350 horsepower. That is 18 hp more than the standard setup can make for the base model. The torque gains 6 lb-ft for 276 pound-feet total.

There are two available transmissions sending the power to rear wheels. The car is not using an all-wheel drive. Buyers will choose between a six-speed manual and a seven-pace automatic gearbox. Manual transmission works better on highways, while the automatic case returns 19 mpg in urban conditions, 2 mpg better than manual.

Max speed is what makes the 370Z so special. Also, acceleration times are pretty impressive. The Nismo model needs less than 5 seconds to reach 60 mph, and in 13 seconds you will pass a ¼-mile track. This coupe can achieve 160 mph.

Accessories

The 2021 Nissan 370Z Nismo is coming with notable upgrades on the body, not only the engine room. A special exhaust system is not improving the performance, but also the look. The coupe will look more aggressive thanks to the dual pipes. RAYS wheels are 19×9.5 inchers front, and 19×10.5 inches rear. The company delivers unique models for the 370Z. The sports car also gets a unique suspension with increased rates of dampering. Side sills, spoiler, and the nose will make the vehicle more aerodynamic. It is one of the reasons why 370Z Nismo can achieve such good performances.

ABS, EBD, and brake assist are standard. The driver-aid system included in this package is cruise control, rear-view monitor, and traction control. A 3-point front strut tower brace is added, as well as the chassis dampers.

2021 Nissan 370Z Nismo Interior

Inside the 2021 Nissan 370Z Nismo we can find automatic climate control, power windows and door locks, and intelligent key push button. The tachometer is getting a Nismo treatment. Manual-adjustable buckets offer eight positions for drivers and four for other passenger. Recaro seats and Alcantara leather make the interior elegant. Of course, red contrasting stitches are the signature option for Nismo models. Navigation and advanced voice commands are available for the infotainment system. The command center is a seven-inch display. An eight-speaker Bose audio system and noise cancellation feature will enhance the ride quality. Unfortunately, this model is supporting neither Apple CarPlay, nor Android Auto.

What is 400Z Nismo?

So, the 400Z is replacing a 370Z. But, what it could be? As you can guess, the car’s name reflects the engine it uses. So, the upcoming model will come with a 4.0-liter unit under the hood?

According to some sources, the new Nissan 400Z Nismo will borrow a setup from Infiniti Q60 premium sedan. A 3.0-liter V6 can achieve 400 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque. This would definitely warm up things in the sports car market. But, engineers won’t just borrow the drivetrain. After the adaptation, the V6 will burst 475 horsepower. Still, there is a question why it is called 400Z if it doesn’t reflect its horsepower rating.

Nissan made a partnership with Mercedes, which is a very interesting story. The Japanese company is already cooperating in a huge alliance with Renault and Mitsubishi. Well, we need to wait to see what will come out from all these rumors. With 475 hp, the new 400Z Nismo would be only 5 ponies shy of the flagship sports car – Nissan GT-R.
