2021 Infiniti QX60 Changes and Release Date

The 2021 Infiniti QX60 is a mid-size SUV with three rows of seats. The company is preparing big updates for the upcoming season and fans are eagerly waiting for new details. Some things are certain – a hybrid drivetrain and the redesign. Infiniti already did the first step. The company introduced the new concept – QX55. Although it is based on the QX50, there is something left for the QX60 mid-size model.

The SUV faces tough competition. Many models in its segment are already offering a hybrid engine. It is time for the QX60 to get the same powerplant. Well, this is not all we are getting from the SUV. Changes are inside and outside. The new model is probably larger and more spacious than before.

What’s more, Nissan and Infiniti are developing the new infotainment system. One of the highlights could be Level 4 autonomous drive. Nissan, the parent company, announced to their fans that such changes are on the way. Still, the final version of the self-driving system won’t be available so soon.

It is still questionable what will be under the hood of the 2021 Infiniti QX60 Hybrid. The base engine is a 3.5-liter displacement, but most rivals are using a smaller model. For example, Acura MDX comes with a 3.0 engine. Still, we expect much better outputs than the petrol configuration can do. Nissan’s powertrain is one the most powerful at its base configuration. Acura MDX counts on a 40 hp boost with an electric drivetrain, while Lexus RX 450h gets less than 20 ponies.

According to early rumors, engineers will try to tune the 2021 Infiniti QX60 for 350 horsepower. However, the main improvements will be in the fuel consumption section. The SUV will return more than 33 mpg combined, which is more than respectable for the mid-size class. Towing capacity is not going to suffer.

Standard Configuration

Under the hood of the 2021 Infiniti QX60 will remain a 3.5-liter V6 petrol configuration. It is a durable and reliable unit with a lot of power and torque. Owners of the upcoming SUV can count on 295 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. A CVT automatic gearbox sends power to the front or all wheels. It is enough for a 0-60 mph sprint in less than 8 seconds. The new QX60 will be lighter than before and we can see gas mileage improvements. The SUV will be able to tow around 5,000 pounds.

2021 Infiniti QX60 Redesign

The redesign of the 2021 Infiniti QX60 will bring a lot of interesting changes. The new SUV was not spied yet, but certain upgrades will be based on the Monograph concept. The carmaker introduced a couple of other platforms recently. Still, the upcoming QX60 will be very attractive thanks to the new front fascia and larger wheels.

Boxier appearance and more space inside are definitely highlights. But, the new model comes with fresh technology and advanced features. The QX60 remains a seven-seater with captain’s chairs as an option. In this case, the seating capacity drops to six. Currently, the SUV offers up to 76 cubic feet, while the new one is expected to come with 80 cu.ft.

Autonomous Drive

Nissan recently announced plans to develop a Level 4 autonomous drive. Besides the Japanese company, the same plan was unveiled by BMW and Tesla. This is very ambitious by the carmaker because the highest current level is 2. Tesla is the most advanced in this segment. Still, all companies will try to jump over the Level 3, since the difference between it and Level 4 is not too big.

2021 Infiniti QX60 Price, Competition

The base price for the new 2021 Infiniti QX60 will be nearly $50,000. The company will update the SUV and its pricing. We will see if the QX60 is getting a kind of limited edition. The old version comes in Luxe and Pure trims. Premium SUV could be the new top of the range model.

The 2021 QX60 will face the competition in Acura MDX and Lexus RX. Two Japanese carmakers are archrivals in other segments as well. In the US market, there are also home-based manufacturers with Lincoln Aviator and Cadillac XT6. Both models are relatively new.
