2021 Infiniti QX50 Full Redesign Details

The vehicle for the 2020 season is mostly unchanged, which means we can expect a lot from the 2021 Infiniti QX50. The carmaker already made a few interesting moves that promise a big season. More electric models, the new coupe-crossover SUV, redesign… everything is in the mix for the compact premium model. All in all, the QX50 will be worth waiting for.

The 2021 Infiniti QX50 will belong to the small crossover luxury class. There are big expectations in every of this class, having in mind that compact models are the best-sellers in the US. Premium features were never in doubt with Infiniti. However, the company is preparing a new generation of infotainment InTouch system.

Under the hood will be even more exciting changes. The Japanese company is preparing a raid on the electric segment. We’ll see which models are getting a hybrid, PHEV, and EV drivetrains, since Christian Meunier, vice president of Infiniti, didn’t mention that. The only certain thing we have is that new technology is on the way. As a member of the compact luxury segment, the 2021 QX50 is a favorite to get a hybrid or all-electric configuration.

2021 Infiniti QX50 Redesign

The 2021 Infiniti QX50 will be an all-new model – outside, inside, and under the hood. Well, the details are not available yet, since everyone is asking about changes in the engine room. Also, we have clues about the self-driving and infotainment system, so the redesign is not in the first plan. Still, you can expect the new look of the QX50. Designers are about to use solutions presented with Nissan Ariya and Infiniti Monograph concepts. The combination will make the compact crossover SUV pretty attractive.

Interior and the New Infotainment System (Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Becoming Standard Features)

The pause in 2020 will be used for the huge changes for the 2021 Infiniti QX50. We already know the company is developing the new infotainment system that is going to boost all the services. Of course, the most interesting ones are Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. According to announcements, these two will be standard at all trim levels for the 2021 season. Besides that, the carmaker improves voice commands. With it, the overall safety is becoming better.

ProPilot Goes for Level 4 Autonomy

It is not doubted – Nissan and Infiniti are leaders in self-driving. Well, Tesla is a step ahead with an advanced Level 2 autonomous drive. But, the Japanese carmaker announced that they are after Level 4 and the system should be available in foreseeable future. We believe it will happen for the 2021 Infiniti QX50. The new self-driving system is about to replace a well-known ProPilot. The feature is good for keeping distance within the same lane and eventually stop. The new Level 4 autonomous drive is much more advanced, with lane change option, self-parking, and many more features. Still, human interference is needed in unpredicted situations.

Turbo Power

The standard drivetrain for the 2021 Infiniti QX50 remains a 2.0-liter turbo-four petrol unit. It is good for 270 hp and still keeps respectable fuel economy numbers. If the redesign makes the QX50 lighter, then expect a better fuel economy. Infiniti’s AWD is not consuming too much more gasoline than the front-wheel drive setup. Surprisingly, the crossover is able to tow more than 3,000 pounds, properly equipped. A CVT automatic gearbox remains standard.

2021 Infiniti QX50 Hybrid, Maybe Even All-Electric

Infiniti has huge plans for the future, regarding the electrification. By 2025 all their crossovers and SUVs will have a kind of electric unit. Well, the compact crossover QX50 is still missing it, as well as the larger QX60. That is the major downside and we are sure the sales would jump significantly if the carmaker launches a hybrid unit. Well, the new QX50 could be an EV as well, do not exclude this option.

Experts are sure the new model will be a coupe version of the upcoming 2021 Infiniti QX50. At least teaser images are indicating so. All the electrification rumors and upgraded infotainment system will find its way for the QX55.

There is enough time for the development of the 2021 Infiniti QX50. The company is not rushing, so we can’t see the first spy photos of the vehicle. Stay tuned, we will follow the situation and report with fresh news.

The price will depend on many things. The base MSRP should remain the same, while all other options are hard to predict at this point. The hybrid model will cost more, while the possible EV is going to top the lineup.
