The QX30 is entering its final year in the market unchanged. Well, there is no reason to invest more in the outgoing vehicle. What’s more, the whole crossover and SUV lineup is on pause for the 2020 season, with the largest portion of changes coming in 2021. Then, we will see a new infotainment system, more hybrid vehicles, and a higher level of autonomous drive. Unfortunately, none of these will be available on the subcompact crossover.
2021 Infiniti QX30 Drivetrain
The premium crossover keeps the same turbo-four unit. A 2.0-liter displacement is capable of producing 210 horsepower and 260 pounds-feet of torque. For the subcompact segment, this is an excellent output. Still, the company didn’t come out with the hybrid drivetrain, although enthusiasts believed it will revive the nameplate. The unchanged model will return the same fuel economy numbers. If you choose a front-wheel drive, the vehicle consumes 24/33 mpg. An all-wheel drive system is thirstier, especially on highways, dropping the rating to 30 mpg. For such mileage, owners will need premium fuel. A seven-speed DCT is a power router.
In other parts of the world, the 2021 Infiniti QX30 will be available with a turbodiesel powerplant. In this case, the towing capacity jumps to 4,000 pounds. The engine is ready to deliver 170 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque through the same gearbox. Again, front- and all-wheel drive systems are available. The diesel motor is more fuel-efficient, but the emissions are the main problem and stumbling block for appearance in various markets.
Trim Levels
The good thing about the 2021 Infiniti QX30 is that it comes with the same trim levels. Still, the company could discontinue some of the following versions in the last minute. The base model is QX30 Pure. Unfortunately, buyers won’t be able to upgrade it with AWD, since the FWD is the only option. Still, parts of the entry-level package are rear-view cameras, a seven-inch touchscreen display, and push-button start. Automatic emergency braking is the highlight of the safety system.
Luxe is a mid-range model with both drive systems available. The difference in price is $2,000 in AWD favor. An intelligent system distributes power where the vehicle needs it the most. Unique parts are installed, with larger overfenders as one of the things we can notice first. Bigger 18-inch wheels are supporting the lifted suspension system.
Essential and Sport are the top models. The first one comes with Nappa leather upholstery and 10-speaker Bose audio. LED headlights are added, as well as the blind-spot monitoring. Automatic wipers complete the premium offer.
The 2021 Infiniti QX30 Sport is available as the all-wheel drive model. Sporty upgrades include special buckets and shift know, as well as paddle shifters. 19-inch wheels are there, and few other upgrades available for this trim exclusively. Sensors will make parking easier.

The 2021 Infiniti QX30 Pure will cost $30,000. The mid-range Luxe adds $3,000 and another two grand for all-wheel drive. Essential model will cost just under $40k with FWD. Sport AWD starts above this margin. You can also add ProAssist package with intelligent drive functions, and Café Teak theme. Heavily-loaded crossover reaches $46,000.
What’s Next for QX30?
The 2021 Infiniti QX30 is the last edition for the subcompact model. We already know the company is not leaving this spot open for too long. However, chiefs don’t want to unveil too much. We believe the carmaker plans to add an all-electric model to its spot. After the 2021 season, we will see more hybrid and EVs. One of them would be a successor of the QX30. The competition is not big in this class, with Audi e-Tron, BMW i3, Hyundai Kona, Jaguar I-Pace, and Kia Niro EV as future rivals to the upcoming replacement of Infiniti’s smallest model.
