2021 Infiniti Q50 Minor Updates and Specs

Sedan class is having a hard time. The battle against crossovers and SUVs is taking charge. For example, Ford already discontinued its cars, while other manufacturers are thinking the same way. Infiniti already dropped Q70 mid-size model, while the compact Q50 is adapting to the new situation. Engineers decided to cut down some units, and the 2021 Infiniti Q50 is going to be available with a V6 engine only.

The lack of engine options the company will try to make up with a wide trim offer. The new sedan is available in five versions, and each of them is going to use a rear-wheel drive as standard mode, and AWD as an optional upgrade.

We believe the 2021 Infiniti Q50 is not taking any big updates inside and outside the vehicle. Definitely, sales determine the priority of redesigns. Nowadays, the entire focus is on the crossover and SUV classes. The carmaker presented a new concept for their best-selling models, QX60 and QX80. The Monograph platform will underpin the new generations of vehicles that arrive in 2021. The Q50 was refreshed in 2018. Only small changes are coming for the new model.

No More 2.0 Engine, a V6 Is The Only Option

So, Infiniti is waving goodbye to a four-cylinder engine borrowed from Mercedes. A 2.0-liter unit was good for 210 hp. In the future, the compact sedan will use only a 3.0-l turbo powerplant. Owners of the 2021 Infiniti Q50 will get 300 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. The outgoing engine managed to return 26 mpg combined, while the larger powertrain can do 24 mpg with FWD. An AWD will consume more fuel, and the rating is only 1 mpg worse.

You will find all models using a V6 with a 3.0T badge. The engine sends power to rear wheels. Optionally, buyers can opt for a four-wheel drive which boosts traction and balance. A power router remains the same. Engineers are using a seven-speed auto gearbox. We are still expecting news about the Red Sport model. This one came with the special tuning of the V6 engine which increased power outputs to 400 hp.

2021 Infiniti Q50 Red Sport 400

The 2021 Infiniti Q50 Red Sport 400 will remain the most expensive offer. This one upgrades the previous model with more power at first place.
