2020 Nissan Z35 Redesign, Specs, Features

The iconic Z Car will is about to come with a completely new design in the near future. These are the latest reports about one of the most legendary Japanese sports car, which has been around for a full five decades. The current generation, known as the 370Z, has been around for a pretty long time. With a decade-old design, it definitely can’t keep the pace with much younger competitors.

Therefore, the new model will come with significant improvements, not just in terms of a new engine, but with significant chassis upgrades as well. At this point, experts suggest various names. The most common is the 400Z, though many believe the new model will actually come as the Z35, as the base version could carry on with a naturally-aspirated engine. In any case, we expect to see the new model already in the next year, with tons of interesting novelties.

2020 Nissan Z35 Redesign

This redesign is expected to bring improvements in various aspects. First of all, we count on a new platform. The current model rides on an old FM platform, which is a little bit heavy for today’s industry standards. So, the new platform should bring big improvements in these aspects. Benefits of major weight reduction are numerous, starting from improved handling and driving dynamics.

Naturally, we count on completely new suspension setup, and latest reports are suggesting that the 2020 Nissan Z35 will feature an even lower center of gravity, which should ensure impressive driving characteristics, particularly in terms of cornerings. In terms of dimensions, we don’t expect to see bigger changes. Similar wheelbase and overall dimensions are something we count on.

Styling

The current generation has been around for more than a decade, so it’s no wonder it looks a little bit outdated. Therefore, expectations from the new model are pretty big, when it comes to aesthetics. We presume that the 2020 Nissan Z35 will adopt a portion of the brand’s newest design language, including the V-Motion design. Of course, don’t expect the same thing as in typical passenger cars like Maxima or Altima, but rather something sleeker. Of course, a coupe layout seems like a certain thing. As we already mentioned, bigger changes in terms of dimensions are not expected.

Interior

From the inside, we expect to see a completely new layout. The current model definitely doesn’t have a cabin design that can be considered competitive. Simply, most of the cabin is made of hard plastics, which in some areas even look pretty cheap. Therefore, we expect from the 2020 Nissan Z35 to get a completely new design, with higher-quality materials, significantly ore attractive aesthetics etc. Of course, we expect that the new model will remain a 2-seater.

2020 Nissan Z35 Engine

This aspect of the new 2020 Nissan Z35 looks a little bit confusing. While we all count on a new 3.0-liter turbo V6 with around 400 horsepower, there are also reports that suggest that base versions will stick to the tradition and come with a naturally-aspirated V6. That would probably mean a familiar 3.5-liter engine, so it’s no wonder that many reports suggest the new model will be called 2020 Nissan Z35. However, we are much closer to the first possibility.

A new twin-turbo engine will come with around 400 horsepower. The same unit would also come with Nismo tuning. It this case, a max output would probably go close to 500 horsepower. Some reports even suggest that versions for certain markets could come with four cylinders as well. This would probably mean a familiar 2.0-liter turbo-four from Mercedes-Benz.

2020 Nissan Z35 Release Date and Price

At this point, we know that the next generation of the iconic Z Car will certainly come. However, we don’t know much more than that. The new model could come as the 2020 Nissan Z35 already in the next year, but it’s not impossible to wait to see a new model for another year or two. When it comes to the price, we presume that base versions would go around 35.000 dollars.

Competition

The 2020 Nissan Z35 will compete with a wide range of sports cars. Still, we presume that key rivals will be famous muscle car trio – Mustang, Camaro and Challenger. Still, this small coupe will be a tough competitor to premium brands as well.

One of the first models that come to mind is the Audi TT. Also, keep the all-new Supra in mind, which came back after two decades. Finally, there are models like Mercedes-Benz SLC, Alfa Rome 4C, Porsche Cayman etc.
