If we can rely on the latest reports, this tiny hatchback is about to come with some interesting changes for the next year. The current model is in the fourth generation, which has been around since 2017. Considering that the competition is getting tougher these days, it seems logical to expect a facelift for the next year. It may seem too early to some, but we are pretty sure it will happen. Moreover, there is a big chance that the Japanese manufacturer will shorten the production cycle and make a complete overhaul sooner than we would normally expect. In any case, the 2020 Nissan Micra is about to come with several interesting changes, most likely, primarily in terms of the styling.
This should be a typical facelift, which will keep the model fresh in the following years. On the other side, we don’t expect to see bigger mechanical changes.
2020 Nissan Micra Redesign
This facelift should bring several interesting changes. Still, the overall design characteristics are about to remain the same. The current generation has been around 2017, which makes this model relatively fresh, even for the standard of subcompact cars. Moreover, the Micra has always been characterized by pretty long production cycles. The previous generation lasted for eight years, while some previous versions were in production for a full decade. However, things are changing and the situation on the market is far more dynamic these days. Therefore, everyone expects to see a mid-cycle refresh after only three years of production. Furthermore, a complete redesign should happen in the near future as well.
2020 Nissan Micra Styling
The upcoming facelift will mostly be about visual changes, naturally. We count on those typical changes, changes that are common for these updates. Therefore, count on a full portion of exterior changes. Of course, most of them will come at the front end. It is still hard to predict the exact modifications, but we presume that the 2020 Nissan Micra will come with some modifications on the grille, as well as with a restyled bumper. On the other side, headlights will probably remain untouched. Smaller changes are expected on the other end as well. We count on some tweaks to the rear bumper, new exhaust tips and similar modifications. Still, nothing significant won’t happen, most likely. Other than that, we will see other common mid-cycle changes, such as new color options, new sets of wheels etc.
Still, the overall design won’t change, The 2020 Nissan Micra will continue to ride on the previous-generation V platform and to features same dimensions and overall layout.
As the name says, the Micra is a pretty small vehicle. Therefore, its interior definitely isn’t the most spacious one you can find. Moreover, this is a typical city car, so you won’t find too much comfort in there. The front rows are decent enough, but the rear seats aren’t designed for longer trips, nor taller passengers. Therefore, it’s best to left them for kids. Still, that doesn’t mean that the 2020 Nissan Micra will feature a bad-quality interior. Moreover, it is pretty good.
Still, keep in mind that this is an entry-level model, which needs to be super-affordable, and the best way to cut production costs is to save on interior materials. Therefore, most of the interior is made from hard plastics, though it generally looks pretty nice. The dashboard is pretty attractive, as well as the color schemes, so we could actually say that the Micra looks better than most of its rivals.
Finally, there is a pretty decent list of standard equipment, which includes all the essentials, especially in terms of tech goodies, so you can count on a touchscreen, Bluetooth, USB ports, navigation and many other things. Also, there is a decent amount of safety features as well.
2020 Nissan Micra Engines
The 2020 Nissan Micra will continue to be offered in various parts of the world. Therefore, it’s not strange that several engines are available with this small hatchback. Of course, the offer differs from market to market but, generally, there is a couple of common engines that are always available. One of them is a familiar 1.0-liter three-cylinder, which is good for about 70 horsepower. On more demanding markets, you can also find a 0.9-liter turbo three-cylinder unit, which features a max output of 90 horsepower. Of course, a diesel version is available too. This one comes with a well-known 1.5-liter dCi, which features a max output of around 90 hp as well.
Release Date and Redesign
Considering that the upcoming model is about to come with some interesting changes, we could see it a little bit earlier than usual, but still within the last quarter of the year. Also, most experts suggest that a complete overhaul will happen earlier than we would expect. The corporal counterpart, Renault Clio, has already been redesigned and switched to a new CMF platform, so we presume Nissan won’t wait for another couple of years to do the same. Most likely, this will happen in two or three years. Until then, the updated version will continue without bigger changes.
