While everyone is talking about the next generation of the iconic Z car, the current-generation 370Z still has to say its final words. This model has been introduced more than a decade ago, so it’s no wonder it feels outdated in almost every aspect, compared to much younger rivals. Among sports cars, this is definitely the oldest model you can get. The last update was five years ago and since then, we didn’t see any particular novelty. Therefore, the next year won’t bring surprises either. Still, we should mention that a convertible version is no more in the offer. Other than that, things are pretty much the same. So, the most capable version will come as the 2020 Nissan 370Z Coupe Nismo. It will come with several upgrades over the standard version, but will also cost notably higher. We expect to see it late in the year.
2020 Nissan 370Z Coupe Nismo Design
The 2020 Nissan 370Z Coupe Nismo is a performance version of the popular sports car. This model has been around for a full decade, so it’s no wonder that it feels a little bit outdated in many aspects. First of all, most rivals ride better and feel more agile. Still, that doesn’t mean that the 370Z is a bad driving car. It is still far better than passenger cars but definitely pays the debt to its age. It simply isn’t as agile as younger competition.
Considering that we are talking about a decade-old vehicle, it’s no wonder that aesthetics aren’t at a pretty high level either. Simply, rivals are much younger and look more up to date. On the other side, the last time this model received an update was five or six years ago, which is way too long by any standards.
Interior
Just one quick look and it becomes obvious that the 2020 Nissan 370Z Coupe Nismo is a quite old vehicle. The overall interior quality isn’t that bad. Materials are actually pretty good, but the car simply doesn’t look as stylish as younger rivals. However, a good thing is that this version comes with a couple of upgrades, which make the cabin look a little bit better.
Practicality definitely isn’t the model’s strong point. Of course, it features just two seats, which aren’t particularly comfortable for long trips. Also, rearward visibility isn’t very good, while the cargo is small even for standards of this class. You can count on less than 7 cubic feet of cargo space, while there aren’t many small-item storage areas inside the cabin.
Features
When it comes to standard equipment, the 2020 Nissan 370Z Coupe Nismo isn’t that bad at all. It features a little bit older infotainment system than rivals, but that is actually the thing we like most. It may lack some modern features like smartphone integration but on the other side, it is pretty straightforward and super easy to use. All in all, a 7-inch touchscreen does a pretty decent job. Among other notable standard features, we should mention things like navigation, satellite radio, and an eight-speaker Bose audio system, USB port, Bluetooth etc.
On the other side, a big complaint goes to the aspect of safety. Crash test results are actually pretty decent, but the list of safety features is pretty short. Practically, a rearview camera is the only modern safety feature you can find in this car.
2020 Nissan 370Z Coupe Nismo Engine and Performances
The biggest difference between 2020 Nissan 370Z Coupe Nismo and the rest of the lineup is in terms of powertrain and performances. First of all, this version features a slight power boost, so a max output goes up to 350 horsepower. It’s not some spectacular power increase and you probably won’t notice bigger improvement over standard models. On the other side, you will definitely feel a big difference in terms of handling, as this version comes with completely new suspension setup, as well as with new brakes, which have a pretty big impact on the overall driving experience. All in all, this is a pretty nice car to drive, but rivals are better.
Another drawback of this model is the subpar fuel economy. A familiar 3.7-liter V6 may be very reliable, but it is also very thirsty. It returns around 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.
A six-speed manual transmission is standard, while a seven-speed automatic gearbox is also available.
2020 Nissan 370Z Coupe Nismo Release Date and Price
The 2020 Nissan 370Z Coupe Nismo already came to most markets and the starting price goes slightly under 46.000 dollars.
