2020 Infiniti QX30 Rumors, Discontinuation

The Japanese manufacturer had big expectations from this small crossover. Unfortunately, things are different in reality. Four years after the launch, it looks like the QX30 will be discontinued. According to the latest reports, the production will end soon. Some reports also suggest that the 2020 Infiniti QX30 will be nothing more than a batch of leftovers from the 2019-year model. No matter what happens, the upcoming model won’t feature any changes.

We are about to see the same overall design, which is based on the previous-generation Mercedes-Benz GLA class, which offers great driving dynamics and overall ride quality. Still, most rivals are younger and more practical, which is the main reason for a major sales decline in the past year. Also, this small crossover has never been very practical, which is something you would expect from a crossover, even with a premium badge. In any case, we expect to see 2020 Infiniti QX30 sometime late in the year.

2020 Infiniti QX30 Redesign

As we’ve just mentioned, there is no room for any notable change in the 2020 Infiniti QX30, considering that the subcompact crossover will be discontinued soon. Therefore, count on familiar design characteristics. Mechanically, this model is pretty much the same as the previous-generation GLA crossover. In practice, this means the same platform, engines and much more. There fore, driving characteristics are also pretty similar. Great handling and driving dynamics are something you can count on. Additionally, there is Infiniti’s familiar design language, with familiar curvy lines, which makes this vehicle one of the best-looking models in the class. From this perspective, there is really nothing to complain about.

Interior

The interior quality is great. Infiniti put a lot of its flavor into something that has a lot in common with the German sibling. All materials are amazing, while the dashboard looks even more mature. Once again, there are no drawbacks.

Weak points start with practicality and functionality. This definitely isn’t the most comfortable model in the class. Although suspension setup is good, the lack of space makes this crossover inappropriate for longer trips. This particularly refers to the second row, which is tight even for standards of a subcompact SUV. Also, the headroom seems quite limited. Another thing we should mention is the cargo area, which is a kind of mixed bag. On one side, there are more than 19 cubic feet behind the rear seats, which are pretty great numbers for the class. On the other side, the overall cargo capacity is just around 35 cubic feet, which is subpar even for a vehicle of this size.

Features

We don’t expect any notable change in terms of standard features for the next year. When it comes to tech goodies, base models will come standard with things like 7-inch touch screen, satellite radio, HD Radio, a six-speaker stereo, two USB ports, and Bluetooth. In higher trims, you can also get features like a panoramic sunroof, a navigation system, a Wi-Fi hot spot, wireless device charging, a 10-speaker Bose stereo etc.

In terms of safety, every QX30 comes standard with forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and a rearview camera. Of course, there are many options in the offer. Some of the highlights are front and rear parking sensors, a surround-view camera, automatic high beams, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control etc.

2020 Infiniti QX30 Engines

The turbo 2.0-liter 4-cylinder will power this model, this engine has 208 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque and comes with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Not only that it rides pretty well, but this engine also features pretty amazing fuel economy, which goes around 24 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway. Mpg ratings are even better with a diesel engine, which measures 2.2 liters in displacement and has a max output of around 170 horses.

2020 Infiniti QX30 Release Date and Price

Since there are no changes to come for the next year, we expect from the 2020 Infiniti QX30 to come sometime late in the year. The current model features a starting price of around 30.000 dollars and we expect no bigger deviations for the next year.

Is There A Chance To See Redesign?

Many reports speculate about the possibility to see the next-generation model of this subcompact crossover. The German sibling has been redesigned some time ago. So, we could see the same kind of relationship in the future too. However, slow sales of the current generation are the main reason why we don’t believe this will happen. In our opinion, the 2020 Infiniti QX30 will be the last year model. After that, the Japanese luxury brand won’t have a subcompact crossover in its lineup.
