2020 Infiniti Q70L Review, Redesign, Interior

This Japanese luxury brand may not have a full-size sedan in the offer, but definitely has a spacious vehicle to offer. The familiar Q70 represents Infiniti in the segment of the mid-size segment. It also comes in a version with a stretched wheelbase, which comes pretty close to the segment of full-size luxury sedans. It came along with the base model, six years ago. Since then, we haven’t seen too many changes and it looks like the current generation will carry on for a couple of more years. A complete overhaul won’t come so soon, so it seems clear that the 2020 Infiniti Q70L will come without more important changes.

It will carry on with the same design, with familiar styling and same specs. Potentially, we could see additions in terms of standard equipment, but these changes will be minimal. In any case, the new model is expected to come sometime late in the year.

2020 Infiniti Q70L Redesign

The 2020 Infiniti Q70L will carry on with familiar design characteristics. The current and the only generation of this large luxury sedan was launched in 2012 and we’ve seen just one update so far, which was also a pretty long time ago. The car rides on a familiar FM platform. Compared to the base version, it features 5.6 inches more in wheelbase, so it goes up to full 120 inches, which is pretty much on part with the full-size car. As we already mentioned, the model was facelifted several years ago.

For that occasion, the model came with a new grille, new fascia, LED headlights, LED taillights, LED fog lights and side rearview mirrors with integrated LED turn signals and the current shape will remain the same until we see a complete redesign. There’s a possibility to see new color options in the offer, but the company remains silent at the moment.

Interior

Of course, the biggest difference compared to the standard model is that there is much more legroom, particularly in the second row. Other than that, things are pretty much the same as in the standard model. This model dates from 2012, so keep that in mind before you make a judgment about the dashboard design. There are some design solutions that look a little bit untypical for today’s industry standards. Still, no one can deny that all materials feature high quality and that most of them are fine and soft to the touch.

InfinitiQ70L Interior

As we’ve just mentioned, there is plenty of space inside this sedan. Also, the seats are very comfortable, particularly the front ones, which are pretty massive and supportive. When it comes to the cargo volume, things are pretty typical for the segment, as you can count on about 15 cubic feet in the trunk.

Features

When it comes to standard equipment, the 2020 Infiniti Q70L could come with a couple of novelties. Still, the current model already stands pretty well in this aspect. It comes standard with tech goodies like the 8-inch infotainment system, navigation, a 10-speaker Bose audio system, satellite radio, dual-zone automatic climate control, moonroof etc. The infotainment system is a little bit outdated, both in terms of graphics and navigation. Of course, you can’t count on modern smartphone goodies like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa etc. On the other side, you can get a premium 16-speaker audio system in higher trims.

When it comes to safety, all models come standard with features like automatic headlights, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and a 360-degree parking camera. It looks a little bit short, but things are much better if you opt for more advanced systems like adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, active lane keep assist etc.

2020 Infiniti Q70L Engine

There is a choice of two familiar engines and both of them offer plenty of power. Standard models are equipped with a 3.7-liter V6, which is good for about 330 horsepower, which is more than enough for a daily drive. Still, an optional 5.6-liter V8 seems like a much better choice for driving enthusiasts. It is good for about 420 horsepower and 416 pound-feet of torque, which ensures impressive driving dynamics. These engines are powerful but also pretty thirsty, so don’t count on impressive mpg ratings. The base engine returns around 18 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. The optional V8 is even thirstier, so you can count on 16 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway. The company even tried with a more efficient hybrid powertrain, but it was discontinued soon after, due to slow sales.

2020 Infiniti Q70L Release Date and Price

Given the fact that there are no bigger changes to come for the next year, the 2020 Infiniti Q70L should hit the market sometime late in the year. When it comes to the price, base models will go around 52.000 dollars.
